In defiance of our admitted lazy attitude today, we were determined to get out of the house and do something. Like go out and sit. So we did.
We all headed to the movie theater in the rain and huddled up to watch "March of the Penguins". This is only the 3rd movie that Grace and Jack have ever seen in the theater, which made the occasion extra special.
As a result of our inexperience in the theater, it instantly becomes a training ground, and you find yourself constantly reminding the children that they need to ask questions quieter. Jack seems to be really good at asking very loud questions during a pregnant pause in the movie. "MOM?? IS THAT A SEA LION? DID THAT PENGUIN DIED?" At the same time, you catch yourself being proud, thinking, my 3 year old knows what a sea lion is, and everybody else now knows he does too.
After the movie it was off for dinner, ice cream, and a good drenching under the water fountains at the mall.

It just so happens that Grandpa Don and Nana are taking your cousin Alyssa and Grandpa Don's two grandchildren, Savanah and Dalton to that movie this afternoon. We thought it would be one that we could all enjoy.

The e-mail icon is a little misleading, (I still get it by e-mail, but it doesn't post on the site). The icon is something that is enabled to allow individuals to send the blog post to a friend. For example, if you wanted to show a friend a post that had pics of your grandkids.

Well Don and I joined the throngs of Grandparents, parents and little ones in the "March of the Penguins". We arrived with Alyssa 5, Savanah 7, and Dalton 4 in tow. Armed with 3 "sippy cups", 3 bottles of water, and 3 small paper bags for the popcorn, Grandpa Don purchased a jumbo popcorn bucket and we filled the bags with popcorn and the sippy cups with water. They watched intently throughtout the movie. Well at least the girls did. Dalton was sitting next to his sister the furthest away from us and next to an older lady on his left. After about a half hour he thought it was more fun bugging his sister and talking out loud. That was bad enough, but then he decided that the water was also good for gargling as loud as possible for his sister. After numerous attempts to discourage him, I asked Savanah to trade seats with me. After I sat down he knew his fun was over. He was still fidgiting but not for long. I looked over a few minutes later and he was fast asleep. Though Dalton is 6 months older than Jack, he is probably not intellectually anywhere near Jack's abilities and knowledge. I guess you would have to classify that statement as "Nana's bragging rights". The girls thoroughly enjoyed the movie and Alyssa is still talking about the "baby penguin" that ate too much and she pokes her chest out and laughs. Oh yeah, Don and I thought it was a great flick too. It is nice to have a movie that is both educational and fun for the whole family.
