I Spy With My Little Eye

The kids and I play a healthy game of "I Spy, With My Little Eye" using our Degas postcards. This proved to be lots of fun with mom being the "I Spy-er".

Bingo! We've Got Birds!

How exciting! Our first visitors are a trio of chick-a-dees and a tufted titmouse. They keep us laughing throughout the day. (Later we added dad's burnt apple crisp to the assortment of edibles.)

Our chickadees and tufted titmouse friends are back and they've also brought a few onlookers but not partakers (cardinal pair, blue jays, bluebirds and a brown "something-or-other"). The biggest news of the day... One very brave chickadee is now using our window feeder. We are loving meeting the little guy up close and personal.

Coloring in Degas

Using our Pick-A-Chip and Color option, Grace selected a horse race scene and has begun coloring her own Degas. She's done an excellent job matching the colors up with her markers, but Degas has currently been dumped for doing the same task with our bird coloring books. Sorry Degas! (we've save the unfinished work for when inspiration returns).

Where Are The Birds?

Jack waits impatiently for any sign of birds at the feeder. "Have you seen them, Mom?"

All Is Too Quiet

No visitors yet. Mom lays out left over french bread from our home made Christmas stuffing on the deck to add extra incentive.

Let The Feeding Frenzy Begin

Mom hangs up our new window bird feeder with much anticipation on our playroom window. It has been very quiet outdoors in these last bitterly cold days, and there is not a bird song in earshot.

Bribery

The birds elect berries on nearby trees to our french bread and bird feeder. Mom ups the ante and moves our abandon wooden bird feeder from the far backyard up to the deck and adds a bit of seed to it and the glass table top.

An Early Start

Our introduction to Tchaikovsky started ahead of schedule as I tried some of our library materials on for size. The audio adaptation of Tchaikovsky Discovers America was a big hit for background entertainment during our breakfasts and lunches.
